Title chasing Manchester City travel to South West London to take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League’s late Saturday kick off.
Pep Guardiola’s men have the opportunity to reduce Arsenal’s lead back to just two points as the clubs continue to battle it out for the title. That’s if they get the win at Selhurst Park, of course, which is not an easy feat.
Here, we’ll preview this Premier League fixture and provide you with some betting recommendations that we hope will help you land some big wins. Read on to find out what you should be backing.
Good record.
A lot of the top clubs have struggled when visiting Crystal Palace over the years, with the passionate crowd in close proximity to the pitch making for a hostile environment. City have had no such issues however, having won seven of their last 10 visits to Selhurst. Two of those games also finished as 0-0 draws, with Palace’s sole win in that time coming back in April 2015.
The Eagles have been a little hit and miss at home this season also. They had a decent record at Selhurst Park before the World Cup, which may have affected their rhythm. They lost their first three home games when the Premier League resumed, but have since hosted four straight draws. All of those stalemates came against in-form opposition, so City should be wary. You’ll get a decent price for this one to end all square!
Sharing the goals.
After an unbelievable start to the season, Erling Haaland’s fantastic goal scoring streak has slowed down somewhat. He still easily leads the top scoring charts in the league, but Guardiola will also be delighted with how the rest of his team have been chipping in with goals. Phil Foden has been chief among those players, netting four goals in his last three appearances for the Citizens.
If the 22 year old gets the nod to start this game, then backing him to continue his rich vein of scoring form could be the way to go. We’re also expecting to get his name on the scoresheet in this game. The prolific Norwegian striker scored a hattrick when these two met at the Etihad at the start of the season and he should add to his tally here.
No mistakes.
After Arsenal’s sensational comeback against Bournemouth last weekend, it’s clear that City cannot afford to make any more mistakes. Nothing but three points will be enough for Pep Guardiola and his men here and they look to put the pressure back on the Gunners, who don’t play until Sunday.
Goal difference could be vital in the title race, with the top two due to play each other before the season is out. With that in mind, City may set up to put a cricket score on Palace here to extend their superior goal difference even further on Mikel Arteta’s team.
