Tottenham welcome Crystal Palace to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in one of the multiple 3pm Premier League kick offs on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts saw their hopes of a top four finish go up in smoke last week, as they fell to a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Liverpool. Interim manager Ryan Mason can take some positives from that game however, despite another slow start from the North Londoners.
Crystal Palace took another huge step to securing their Premier League status in the last round of fixtures. After their 4-3 win over West Ham, they’re now 10 points clear of the drop zone and can start planning for next season’s campaign.
As these London rivals get set to clash, we’ll preview the game and provide some betting tips that we hope can land you a tidy profit.
Inconsistent
Neither of these sides come into this with any kind of consistency, and that’s what makes this largely a difficult one to call. Despite losing and drawing their last two games, Spurs have shown that they do have some quality when the mood strikes.
Palace have shown that same level of ability recently too, but have also fallen to a defeat to Wolves and drew with struggling Everton. Their win over West Ham last weekend will have given them a needed confidence boost heading into this one.
Plenty of goals
Going on the recent form of these two sides, goals look to be the order of the day. Tottenham’s last five games have seen at least three goals scored, with both teams scoring in each of their last eight in all competitions. Their slow starts are common knowledge now and they could find themselves having to come from behind.
That will give Palace some encouragement to take the game to their hosts and they’re in a bit of a scoring purple patch themselves. Their 5-1 win over Leeds and their 4-3 win last week show they’re capable of scoring when everything clicks for them. Add to that some of the individual qualities they possess and they look like a handful.
Nothing to play for
The danger for the visitors is that they essentially have nothing to play for with relegation all but staved off. That could give Ryan Mason’s side the edge in this one. Champions League qualification may be out of the question, but they’re still in with a shout of getting a Europa League place. With European football a must for Tottenham next season, they need to take the three points here.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Spurs on the back of their defeat at Anfield last week. They’ve had the time to analyse that performance and put a game plan together to give their fans something to cheer about. Harry Kane looks likely to lose out on the Golden Boot this season, but will still want to get on the scoresheet.
